KD’s striking exterior was designed by Official Italiana Design under the careful guidance of founder Mauro Micheli, while her interior design is by Tiziana Vercellesi, the combination of which earnt her a place as finalist of the prestigious Boat International Design & Innovation Awards in 2019. Accommodating up to 12 guests in six contemporary cabins, she radiates tranquillity, class and sophistication, with a range of innovative features resulting in the ultimate seafaring haven. KD’s interior design and outfitting is truly class leading and a benchmark for what Sanlorenzo can deliver. With leather, parquet, marbles, silk wallpaper, ebony amaro veneers, mother of pearl inlays, and crystal handles throughout the guest interior, complemented by loose furniture from Fendi, including sofas, chairs and cushions in both the interior and exterior.
Created with unmatched low noise and vibration levels due to high levels of insulation and build strategies, KD is the only yacht from Sanlorenzo built to ABS “Comfort (Y)” class. Her paint work is only three years old after being re-done under warranty, and she has had the same captain and core crew from build. Additionally, She has just completed her 5 year ABS class renewal with all services, inspections and maintenance up to date complete.
Forward thinking technical innovations meet large internal volumes and serene outdoor spaces aboard KD, with an extensive use of glass encapsulating the reflective properties of the ocean. Her floating tender garage floods to allow the tender to enter and exit with ease, and when not in use the floor lowers securely to resume use as part of the expansive beach club, with fold down terraces opening to port and starboard. The overall beach club arrangement, including hatches in the side doors, is far superior to newer models and becomes truly weatherproof when in place. KD is unique in the 52Steel series in that she was extended from build to be 53 metres, with a lengthened swim platform allowing for more space for tender operations, and the aft has strengthened bollards designed for ‘stern to’ and ‘rock’ moorings.
Natural light fills the beach club from the glass-bottom pool above on the main deck, instilling a sense of calm throughout the area. When in position, the beach club features freestanding furniture and a bar area, forward of which is a large well-equipped gymnasium, complete with Technogym equipment. Aft of the beach club is the spacious swim platform, which can be further extended with inflatable platforms.
Heading up onto the main deck aft, you are greeted by KD’s spectacular glass-bottom swimming pool with sun pads either side. Sliding doors open from the deck into the spacious main salon and dining area, where you are first welcomed by a beautiful bar. The interior has been thoughtfully designed with Fendi furniture, silk wallpapers, Hermes soft furnishings and exquisite chandeliers, resulting in a warm, stylish, and inviting atmosphere. The pantry, well-equipped galley, the owner’s office and the full beam owner’s suite are located forward. The windows in the owner’s suite have been customised to open, allowing guests to enjoy the sea air and the sounds of the ocean whilst utilising the space.
Aft of the master suite on the port side is the upgraded galley and forward is the tender garage. The galley was improved from build with a rational steam oven, blast freezer, high speed/temp dishwasher, dough mixer, and customised Ambach induction with fryer and grill as additional over the standard supply to ensure the chef is well catered for. In the forward garage, a 4.8 metre sport RIB is stored along with a foldable 3.8 metre Zodiac rescue boat and two customised Seadoo’s (GTX and Spark), freeing up space in the beach club to not be cluttered with toys.
The upper deck features an additional salon with another beautiful bar, with an additional alfresco dining area on the aft deck. The wheelhouse is located forward with a host of state-of-the-art navigation equipment including a full ECDIS upgrade. The captain’s cabin and the guest VIP double cabin are located aft of the helm. Up on the sun deck there is lots of additional space for recreation with sun loungers aft, a top of the range jacuzzi forward, with a bar and grill amidships, and plenty of seating and tables for dining al fresco – the perfect area for entertaining with spectacular views during the day. At night the deck transforms into a party/club with lights, smoke machine and additional speakers with a DJ input, a truly bespoke setup!
The remaining four guest cabins are located on the lower deck, consisting of two spacious VIPs and two doubles with pullman bunks, which can also be configured as twins to suit any party’s arrangements. All of the cabins are ensuite and the VIP’s feature his and her sinks.
KD accommodates up to 11 crew members, more than the standard nine, in five well-appointed cabins, including the separate captain’s cabin on the upper deck, ensuring the ratio of crew to guests is unparalleled and that service is always second to none on board.
Below deck, the engineering systems on KD were upgraded from build including dramatic noise and vibration reduction measures, reducing them to unrivalled levels. Other standout features include increased generator capacity, cold/sparkling water production, AVIT upgrades including 5G, TVRO and Starlink, have been continually upgraded and integrated on board, along with improving the TVs and speakers. LED lighting on the exterior and hull of the yacht illuminate KD distinctively in any anchorage, complementing her surrounding underwater lights.
