Lagoon Options at Delivery

Lagoon provides a long list of options and extras to customize the boat from the factory. Here are the options listed that were included with the boat at delivery, which is almost the entire list!

  • Essential equipment and comfort equipment (upgrade) configuration.

    • This includes the indirect lighting in the companionways, saloon and cabins, the basic part of the B&G Zeus 3 navigation system, the FUSION RA70 stereo system, a porthole in the galley, additional fresh water tanks, additional batteries for the main battery bank, helm seat cushions, pulpit seats, fridge, aft portholes in cabins, battery controllers and additional battery chargers, deck lights and transom lights, seawater pump in the kitchen, a deck washing system that operates with fresh water or seawater, flag halyards on the spreaders, stainless davits for the dinghy, fresh water dock inlet, teak floors in the bathrooms.

  • Special leather upholstery and additional stools.

    • All saloon cushions are upholstered in leather and additional stools (ottomans) are included for the navigation table and the desk in the starboard hull.

  • Rigging for code 0 and spinnaker.

    • This includes a factory fitted bowsprit and all deck fittings for the blocks and line guides to run code0 / spinnaker sheets and guys, as well as stanchion brackets for the code0 furler lines.

  • Square top mainsail.

    • This increases the size of the mainsail and thus boat performance.

  • Lazy bag with cover.

  • Cockpit fridge.

    • Drinks fridge in the cockpit, convenient and saving space in the kitchen fridge.

  • Full cushion set.

    • This includes cockpit cushions, sun loungers cushions on the cabin roof and cushions for the forward seating area.

  • All electrical winches and electrical dinghy winch.

    • Upgrade to electrical winches, 2 x Harken 60, 2 x Harken 50, and 1 x Harken 40.  This greatly improves comfort in operating the boat shorthanded.

  • Clears (sides) for the cockpit.

    • This is the enclosure option. This allows the cockpit to be closed off during inclement weather, greatly improving comfort on the boat.  With the custom flybridge sides, a weatherproof environment can be created which is ideal for crossings and night sailing when the conditions are not optimal.

  • Onan 11 KvA generator.

    • This provides 230V to all systems, and is essential for the use of air conditioning and water making.

  •  USB sockets in all cabins.

    • Convenient for charging phones and small appliances.

  • Outboard engine bracket on the transom.

    • Suitable for a spare smaller outboard engine.

  • Inverter for main battery bank.

    • Providing 230V when not at dock and when the generator is not operating. (But see also solar/electrical system information).

  • Dessalator DUAL water maker 100 ltr/hr.

    • This water maker can operate on 12V DC or 230V AC. For the 230V operation the generator should be on. With power from the solar system it can operate from the batteries without requiring to run an engine.

  • Remote windlass control and chain counter.

    • This operates the anchor winch from the flybridge and provides accurate information about how much chain has been lowered.  The windlass also has a remote control at the winch.

  • Electrical toilets in all bathrooms.

    • For additional comfort.

  • Additional Stainless freezer.

  • Air conditioning and heating throughout the boat.

    • There are 4 separate crusair reverse cycle units so the heating or cooling of each cabin can be regulated independently.  All units have a dehumidify option, which is very convenient on a boat!

  • Fans in all cabins and the saloon.

    • These are 12V fans with adjustable mounting and variable speed.

  • Dishwasher.

    • For comfort.

  • Washing machine.

    • This option was for a Candy washer/dryer.  This was replaced this in Oct 2021 with a Haier washing machine with larger capacity.

  • Slats under all beds.

    • To improve air circulation and thus comfort.

  • Storage furniture in lieu of sofa in starboard hull.

    • This replaces the small sofa with additional storage space in cupboards and drawers.

  • Microwave oven.

    • Operates on 230V.  Greatly expands cooking comfort and efficiency.

  • 2nd VHF handset.

    • Providing an additional handset for the flybridge. (See comments under instruments about the V90 unit installed as an upgrade.)

  • AIS transceiver with antenna splitter.

    • Receives and sends AIS B signals. Displayed on both chart plotters. The splitter shares the antenna between the VHF and AIS.

  • B&G radar.

    • Radar receiver 4G. Displays on both chart plotters.

  • B&G Autopilot remote and WIFI module.

    • A remote fob for the autopilot and the WIFI option for both chart plotters.

  • B&G second chart plotter.

    • Extra 12" plotter in the saloon.

  • BOSE speakers in saloon.

    • This improves sound quality in the boat, and includes a subwoofer that is concealed under the saloon couch. There are also speakers in the cockpit and on the flybridge, so music is available throughout the boat, and can be operated in 2 "zones" through the stereo system or through both chartplotters.

  • Forward looking sonar.

    • This provides a forward sonar which displays forward depth and obstacles on the chart plotters.  Ideal when traversing or anchoring in shallow waters.

  • Anchor, mooring and fender set.

    • All docking lines, fenders and standard anchor with chain. (See also non-lagoon extras).

  • Teak floor in cockpit.

  • Engine upgrade to 57Hp.

Non-Lagoon extras at delivery

When the boat was delivered, the first owner installed extras that could not be ordered from the LAGOON list of options.

  • TV antenna.

    • An electronic antenna was installed in the top of the mast, with an amplifier/splitter to provide signal to the master cabin and the saloon.

  • TV in Master cabin.

    • Flatscreen TV on wall bracket with additional sound bar.

  • B&G V90 VHF.

    • A better VHF system than the factory fitted V50.  The V90 uses a central unit connected to identical handsets at the navigation table and flybridge. It also incorporates an AIS receiver, which can be selected on the chart plotters in case there would be issues with the specific AIS transceiver.

  • Highfield 3.8 dinghy with 30Hp 4-stroke Yamaha outboard.

    • The HIGHFIELD CL380 Console dinghy has a steering console with hydraulic controls, electrical start and trim, and is the largest size that will fit on a Lagoon 450F.

  • Upgrade to COPPERCOAT antifouling.

    • In lieu of ablative antifouling, contractors applied 5 coats of COPPERCOAT antifouling, a system that creates a copper sheet around the underwater ship. This coat has been sanded and patched multiple times to extend its longevity and spare COPPERCOAT patch is aboard.

  • MANTUS M1 48kg (105Lb) anchor.

    • This is the main anchor. MANTUS are famous for their holding capacity in most bottom substrates and fast action.  We also kept the 25Kg Delta anchor that was supplied with the boat as a second anchor and fitted that with 10m of 12mm chain and 50m of 1" line, as well as purchased an aft anchor.

  • Hardtop bimini with sides and sunshade.

    • DEDICATED MARINE INC supplied and installed the hardtop bimini.

  • 230V outlet in cockpit.

    • This outlet is located above the counter at the starboard side of the cockpit and has proven ideal for outdoor cooking.

  • SOVEREIGN ALPHA MARINE GAS BBQ.

    • SOVEREIGN is a famous BBQ and outdoor cooking brand in Australia, and we have had their boat BBQ's for many years. The BBQ is installed at the port side of the aft railing.  A small LPG bottle is connected before use.  The BBQ is installed using support studs welded to the railing and braced to the legs for the solar arch, providing a very sturdy construction outside of the direct cockpit area thus directing the smoke away. This position is ideal for BBQ parties!

  • Additional VHF antenna.

    • An extra VHF antenna was installed at the masthead so the AIS can be used with a separate antenna, or with the installed splitter. The extra antenna also provides redundancy.

  • VIKING life raft.

    • Initially installed was an 8-person life raft, which was replaced in Dec 2020 with a VIKING 6-person hard-case version.

  • STANDARD HORIZON portable VHF.

    • This handheld VHF is waterproof, it floats, and provides a back up for the main VHF system.  It is also very handy when crew goes onshore and needs a way of communication back to the boat in areas where there is no phone reception.

Custom Projects after Delivery

After delivery and use of the boat for a few months, the first owners decided on further projects to improve Sea Bee for her purpose as a long term permanent cruising platform.

  • Solar and electrical system.

    • We had an electrical engineer based in Gibraltar design a solar system and associated changes to the boat's electrical systems.  The solar arch frame was constructed out of stainless steel by a workshop in Gibraltar. Professionally drawn diagrams for the additions to the electrical system are provided.

  • Railing / lifeline extension.

    • The boat comes standard with two lifelines on 600mm stanchions, as do all sailing vessels in this size range. We have always considered this insufficient for sailing in rough weather or far out at sea. We noted that larger boats typically have higher railings with a solid top rail. We engaged Pritchards' marine in Gibraltar to design and construct a higher railing system. This meant building new stanchions and bow pulpits and bracing these to withstand lateral forces. The lifelines at 300 and 600 mm were retained and a solid 35mm top rail at 900mm was added. This also meant we had to rebuild the "gates" with a construction to allow the top rail to open. The solid top rail was connected to the solid railing structures at the rear of the hulls, which come with the boat.

  • Extension of flybridge enclosure.

    • The optional clears we purchased with the bimini cover the forward and side sections of the flybridge, whilst the optional shade cloth at the rear did not provide shelter for rain or wind. The sides did not reach to the flybridge floor and did not provide shelter for the flybridge access. With Pritchards' Marine in Gibraltar we designed extensions and additions to these clears so we could completely close the flybridge.  These were all fabricated by Pritchards' Marine.

  • Dinghy cover.

    • Pritchards' Marine designed and fabricated a cover for the dinghy when it is hoisted on the davits.  We use this during crossings or when we are away from the boat or when we are not using the dinghy.

  • Flexible compartments in the starboard locker.

    • The code 0 and Wingaker are very large sails. in order to make it easier to deploy and stow them after use, we designed a flexible compartment with two sections, suspended from the ceiling of the starboard bow locker. This makes it easy to work with these sails, instead of getting out of their own sail bags in the locker.  This easy accessible sail bag can be partially unhooked to maintain access to the locker.

  • Extension of the stainless steel structure of the bimini.

    • After getting used to the bimini, we decided to add handrails above the winches to assist with entering the flybridge and operating the winches.  We also added a handrail along the ceiling to make it easier to traverse the flybridge. A rail was added to the roof to prevent the boom doing damage to the solar panels on the bimini roof. A horizontal bar was added between the short railing to the right of the steering wheel and the bimini structure.

Custom projects done in November 2022

  • New battery install, including lithium for the house bank.

    • The previous electrical configuration included 1300Ah of gel batteries. All batteries were tested and the current owners decided to expand the battery capacity in both banks. Installed now is a house bank of 1200Ah Relion lithium batteries in the port engine bay. Under the owner’s bed is a battery bank of new Lifeline AGM batteries totaling 840Ah. Both banks can be charged via solar, the engines, or each other (via a Cyrix TCi)

  • Installation of Cerbo GX Touch.

    • This allows you to monitor your house bank with ease. Installed into the lithium bank and solar arch array with a Victron Lynx Shunt, the GX Touch allows you to visually understand your power management and configure remote monitoring.

  • New trampoline.

    • Lagoon stock trampolines are white and sag over small amounts of time. Newly installed black trampolines make front-of-boat maintenance easy.

  • New crossbeam.

    • The first owners had cosmetic damage on the crossbeam. They agreed to replace the crossbeam and all associated attachments and fasteners to ensure there would be no deterioration to the crossbeam or hull.

  • 110V / 60Hz electrical system installed.

    • This allows your standard US appliances without dual hertz support to work without degradation. To support this use, 110V outlets were installed in both the galley and aft cockpit.

  • Selectable fresh flush in all heads.

    • To help with cleanliness of the black water system.

  • Testing of the solar panels with 1 panel replacement.

    • To ensure off-grid livability, the solar system was tested and 1 panel was replaced.

  • Underwater light installation.

    • Because seeing the bottom of the ocean is one of the best experiences at night. Installed were 4 Aqualuma 6 series lights.

  • New toilet in port aft bedroom.

    • With recurring macerator issues and general wear and tear in the guest bedroom, this toilet was completely replaced.

  • New macerator pump and joker valve in port forward head.

    • To keep both port heads on a similar maintenance path.

  • New condensing pump for starboard AC unit.

    • After testing, it was determined that replacing the original pump would make the unit more efficient.

  • Halo+ radar system.

    • With multiple overnight crossings coming up, the current owners thought best to replace the original Halo 4G radar with the newest technology to ensure no problems traveling the entirety of the US East Coast and Caribbean.

  • Multiple new lines

    • A handful of lines on the boat were not Dyneema or were showing regular wear and tear. Multiple of the lines were replaced - all with Dyneema core.
