Hull Design, Construction and Performance

The Makai 37 is designed using our Air-Glide* system to create high air pressure inside, and low pressure outside the hulls to generate a unique shock-absorbing cushion. This also increases the hulls efficiency proportionally with speed. That means no more bumpy rides out to your favorite reef and no more slamming over oncoming swells. With a Makai power catamaran, speed does not come at the sacrifice of comfort.

  • Finish: Full female molded hulls & decks, exterior gelcoat finish with molded non-slip surface on deck areas
  • Hull Laminate: Infused polyester resin laminate with a vinylester tie layer
  • Hull and Deck Core Material: PVC closed cell foam core
  • Deck Laminate: Vacuum formed polyester resin laminate
  • Laminate specifications are certified to CE standards
  • Bottom: Epoxy barrier coat and 2 coats of high-quality black antifouling bottom paint
